SHOP WITH A COP

Changing lives one family at a time

Each year, Brown and Highland County Schools choose one or more children in need  to participate in "Shop with a Cop."  Law Enforcement Officers and a chaperone, pick up their honorary partners at their homes. The first stop on their fun filled adventure is to be determined that year, there the plan for the day is discussed and the holiday festivities begin.  They travel to Country Inn for the most important meal of the day, a hearty breakfast.  After breakfast, its off to Hillsboro Walmart for their personal shopping spree. Lights and sirens blaring with the kiddos at the controls, of course. Each child "shops til they drop with their cop." The holly jolly does not stop there.  All that shopping works up an appetite.  Next stop, they stop for a fun-filled lunch. After lunch, its time to chill-out and watch a movie at Star Cinemas. Don't forget the popcorn! When the credits roll, its back to the start of their journey, to be Santa's elves and wrap their purchases. This is a once in a lifetime event for each child that is selected.  Each officer cherishes the time spent and looks forward to this event each year.  An amazing time is had by all.

Policeman in he 1.png

A Policeman stood and faced his God,

which must always come to past.

He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek?

To my church have you been true?

The officer squared his shoulders and said,

"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.

Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.

But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep,

though I worked a lot of overtime when bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.

And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.

I know i don't deserve a place among the people here.

They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.

If you have a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand.

I've never expected or had too much.

But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.

As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.

Step forward now, officer, you've borne your burdens well.

Come walk a beat on heavens streets, you've done your time in Hell.
